FINALLY A PLACE TO CALL HOME
2007 saw us move from Carla’s dining room table, to a virtual office, to a shoe box sized temporary office, to now, a real office with desks and shelves and everything. Unfortunately, we cannot accept visitors without appointment, as we cannot guarantee that 1. we will be in, and 2. we will not have a phone attached to our ear and 100 phone calls to make.
Having now settled into our new office in East Belfast, we plan to have a news update at least once a month. Firstly:
WE’D LIKE TO WELCOME OUR 450 NEW MEMBERS that joined in February – all your profiles and photographs have now been uploaded. In amending the admin side of our website during the data input, some existing members tags for popular searches disappeared. Rest assured we will be retagging all the existing members over the coming weeks.
2008 has already had us finishing the feature film Hunger and the BBC Series Desperados as well as RTE's Cracking Crime & BBC NI's In Cold Blood. We are now waiting to see what productions the end of the writer's strike will bring to Northern Ireland. The Summer here is notoriously the best time for film and television work as it provides the kindest weather and most light to work in - so keep your fingers crossed that the success of City of Ember last Summer, and Closing the Ring the Summer before, will bring other projects of the same caliber. Whatever the projects, large or small, we will keep you posted with roles suitable to you.
On a more personal note, for those of you who don't already know, Carla is expecting her first child - no doubt it will be answering the phones and calling you with your call times and location details in the future.
Until then, the voice at the end of the phone since November has been our invaluable Karen. The presence of Karen in the office has made this busy and eventful year possible and she has made herself indispensable.
And, as many of you were aware, Siobhan had to take timeout to be there for her husband who has been seriously ill. Siobhan would like to thank all of you who sent her best wishes and support during that difficult time and is happy to tell you all that Ken is doing very well and is even enjoying a pint of Guinness a day under doctor’s orders!
